Job Description: Deputy Head of Credit

  • Assist the Head of Credit with the managing of the credit department including development and maintenance of overall company credit policy

  • Develop and maintain loan acquisition guidelines across lending products in the US and UK, in consultation with Senior Management

  • Current products include residential bridge (1-4 units), multifamily/mixed-use (5+ units) as well as 30 year DSCR rental loans

  • Analyze loan portfolio statistical performance and reasons for defaulted loans in order to incorporate feedback into credit process and guidelines

  • Manage real estate appraisal reviews and monitoring the quality and processes

  • Manage scope of due diligence agents used for existing and future loan products

  • Manage approvals of credit exceptions for loan acquisitions on a flow basis

  • Manage audit of loan acquisition process and personnel periodically to ensure compliance with credit policies

  • Educate internal loan acquisition team on credit matters

  • Based in Summit, NJ

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, or related field.  Master’s preferred

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in bridge lending credit or loan buying of 1-4 unit or multifamily properties

  • Detailed knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA/HUD GSE and Rating Agency underwriting requirements for multifamily properties

  • Ability to model cash flows, understand loan and borrower structures and market fundamentals

  • Be proactive and successful in a fast-paced environment

  • High level Excel and data analysis

  • Experience presenting to Senior Management and preparing presentation materials

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
